 VENUES

In the late 19th century, as the Joseon Dynasty was nearing its end, the dynasty's long-held isolationist policy was replaced by one of open trade. Since then, Incheon has evolved into a prominent international port city. Incheon, with a population of 2.6 million in an area of 958km2, has emerged as a trade hub in Northeast Asia. Cargo ships from all around the world dock at Incheon port. Ferry services are also available here, linking Korea to neighboring Chinese cities including Tianjin, Shanghai and Weihai, and this has contributed to vigorous coastal exchanges between China and Korea. Incheon International Airport which opened on March 29, 2001 is an advanced mega-scale international airport, serving 100 million passengers per year. It has emerged as a transportation hub in Northeast Asia, becoming a center of international logistics.
